Ron Cain will be performing again in the Ranger Fly-In & Airshow in his classic de Havilland Chipmunk. A favorite of 2011’s performances his return will mark his second appearance at Ranger. Ron’s other aircraft include a Cessna 180 and Piper Super Cub.

David Martin at the Reno Air Races

David Martin has confirmed he will be displaying his piloting skills during the Ranger Fly-In & Airshow on Memorial Day Weekend. It will mark the National Aerobatic Champion’s fifth appearance at Ranger.

David grew up in an aviation family in Texas, where both his father and grandfather were airline pilots. That so, it was only natural that his interest in flying began at a very early age. David started flying with his father in the family’s 1959 K model Bonanza at age 12. His grandfather, a barnstormer in the 1930s, insisted that David learn aerobatics as a part of his basic training. His first aerobatics were in his grandfather’s 1941 Fleet biplane.

David continued flying throughout high school, often flying the 25 miles to attend school. As a high school graduation present, his parents gave David an aerobatic course with legendary airshow pilot Duane Cole. After graduating from Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a degree in aviation, David flew corporate jets for several years until he joined the Texas Air National Guard. Continuing his quest for excellence, David graduated from Air Force Pilot Training, F-4 training and F-16 training at the top of his classes.

David started to seriously pursue competition aerobatics in 1994 upon purchasing an Extra 300S. Since earning his initial spot on the U.S. Aerobatic Team in 1997, David has attended 6 World Aerobatic Championships. While attending the WACs, David has won an individual gold medal and 3 team bronze medals. In 2001, David won the United States National Aerobatic Championships. And in 2006, David placed first at team selection earning him the title of U.S. Team Captain.

David and his wife Martha, also a pilot, live at Possum Kingdom Lake, Texas.

British Airways can trace its origins back to the birth of civil aviation, the pioneering days following World War I. In the 90 years that have passed since the world’s first schedule air service on 25 August 1919, air travel has changed beyond all recognition. Each decade saw new developments and challenges, which shaped the path for the future. Take a look at the different eras of air travel to see how British Airways became the airline it is today.

After 61 years and six months the Barn Cub took off just after 5:00 Thursday evening. She flew well. Take off roll was very short due to a 12 knot cold front that knocked the temperature down from mid 50’s to 40. Everything checked out okay and it is still somewhat surreal. She was a lot of work. Total time on the airframe since new is now 198 hours and six minutes.

As for the bare fairings, those will be painted in the new year. Aside from that and a few small touches she is almost finished! Acknowledgement is due to the following:
